Jürgen Bergner becomes CEO of HS Timber

Succession planning is very important in a family business. Gerald Schweighofer, known for his forward-thinking and innovative approach, has been planning this transition carefully to ensure a smooth changeover in leadership. Effective from 16 January 2024, Jürgen Bergner, who has been instrumental in our operations as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) will expand his role to also serve as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HS Timber Group.

Jürgen Bergner (46), currently COO of HS Timber, becomes CEO of the company on 16 January 2024. Gerald Schweighofer, the founding CEO of HS Timber, has stepped down from his management role to concentrate on various other entrepreneurial endeavours. Despite his resignation, he will maintain a close connection with the company and the sawmilling industry, offering his expertise and ongoing support. Jürgen Bergner, who holds a degree in business administration, has been with HS Timber since 2003 and has been a member of the Group’s Management Board since 2016. As COO, he has been responsible for the Production/Technology, Purchasing, Energy & Environment and Public Relations business areas, among others. In addition to these, in his new role as CEO, Jürgen Bergner will also be responsible for the Group's HR agendas.
